Mohan Edirisinghe教授是英国伦敦大学学院（University College London）机械工程系教授，英国皇家工程院院士，国际陶瓷科学院院士，获得英国与国际奖10余项，包括“The Institute of Materials, Minerals and Mining Chapman Medal” (2017年)，“The Royal Academy of Engineering Armourers & Brasiers Compnay Prize for excellence in materials engineering” (2017年)，“Royal Society Brian Mercer Innovation Feasibility” 奖 (2005年, 2009年 和2013年)，“Worshipful Company of Armourers and Brasiers Materials Science Venture” 奖(2010年), “Presidents Prize of the UK Biomaterials Society to recognize outstanding contributions to the biomaterials field”奖 (2010 年和 2012年)等。作为负责人承担英国工程和自然科学研究委员会(EPSRC)、英国皇家学会（The Royal Society）、欧盟(European Commission)等项目40余项，承担项目总经费超过2500万英镑。发表高水平学术论文400余篇，H因子达57，他引超过10000次。曾担任Advances in Applied Ceramics主编，目前担任Journal of The Royal Society Interface副主编及国际上多个期刊的编委。研究领域包括：微纳米材料制备、微纳米制造及其在生物、健康领域的应用。

报告简介：Electrohydrodynamics consists of a family of processes including electrospraying, electrospinning and electrohydrodynamic printing. In the last three decades these processes have been adopted as very successful forming routes to deposit advanced material architectures. Some aspects of such forming have reached manufacturing ambitions, however scaling-up has been difficult.

In 2013 we ventured beyond electrohydrodynamics and invented pressurised gyration which can generate different advanced materials morphologies with high yield. This process has now developed rapidly into many sister-processes to further enhance its capabilities and is a very effective forming route for biomaterials, biomedical engineering and healthcare applications.

In this talk we will take a brief look back at the use of electrohydrodynamics in modern materials manufacture, subsequently the speaker will elucidate the science and technology of gyratory forming with pressure and flow control, showing examples of taking this process to manufacturing for healthcare.
