JacekBlazewicz is aprofessor of computer science at the Poznan University of Technology.Presently he is a director of the Institute of Computing Science.

His research interests include algorithm design and complexity analysis ofalgorithms, especially in bioinformatics, as well as in scheduling theory.He has published widely in the above fields (over 350 papers) in manyoutstanding journals, among others in IEEE Trans. on Computers, IEEETrans. on Communications, Parallel Computing, Journal of Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Operations Research, Int. Transactions on OperationsResearch, European Journal of Operational Research, Information ProcessingLetters, Operations Research Letters, ACM/IEEE Trans.on Computational Biology and Bioinformatics.

Prof.Blazewicz is also an editor of the International Series of Handbooks inInformation Systems (Springer Verlag) as well as a member of the EditorialBoards of 10 scientific journals. His science citation index exceeds 9200(Google Scholar) and 3700 (ISI). His Hirsch index reaches 42 (GoogleScholar) and 28 (ISI).

In 1991 he was awarded EURO Gold Medal for his scientific achievements inthe area of operations research. In 2002 he was elected for the Member ofthe Polish Academy of Sciences. In 2010 he was elevated to the positionof IEEE Fellow. In 2012 he received the Copernicus Prize. In 2014 hewas elected as a Vice-President of IFORS responsible for EURO.
