Yoshiharu Iwabuchi received his Ph.D. in 1991 under the supervision of Professor Seiichi Takano at Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences of Tohoku University (Japan). He then moved to The Scripps Research Institute (United States) and worked as a Research Associate with Prof. K. C. Nicolaou. From 1992, he became Researcher at Protein Engineering Research Institute and Biomolecular Engineering Research Institute. In 2006, he moved to Nagasaki University and was appointed as an Assistant Professor. Since 2002, he is a Professor at Tohoku University. He has been awarded many times, such as Asian Core Program Lectureship Award (2009, Taiwan & Korea) and The Pharmaceutical Society of Japan Award for Divisional Scientific Promotion (2012). His research interests mainly focus on natural product synthesis, development of synthetic methodology and medicinal chemistry. He has authored many publications, including J. Am. Chem. Soc. and Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. papers.
