Shigeru Shimada received his Ph.D. in 1993 at University of Tokyo (Japan). He then moved to National Institute of Materials and Chemical Research (NIMC, now named AIST) and worked as a Researcher there. From 1997, he became a Senior Research Scientist at NIMC and AIST. Since 2009, he is a Leader of a research group at AIST. He was Visiting Research Fellow at University of Durham (UK) and Visiting Professor at Kansai University and Nihon University (Japan). He was awarded as Young Scientist Award in The Society of Silicon Chemistry, Japan in 2004. His research interests mainly focus on development of organosilicon chemistry. He has authored many publications, including Nature Commun., Angew. Chem. Int. Ed. and J. Am. Chem. Soc. papers.
