Topic 1 :Boiling Research using Artificial Cavities

In the present study, a series of pool boiling experiments to understand the fundamental nature of boiling are performed in water under atmospheric pressure on a smooth heated silicon surface with artificial cavities of various shapes, sizes and spacing. In this talk, the results of the experimental study together with some other related topics will be explained and discussed.

Topic 2: Dependence of Critical Heat Flux on Heater Size

The author performed a serial systematic experiments of boiling in recent years, by changing widely the wire diameter, the test liquid, the liquid subcooling, the test surface material and the system pressure, and has accumulated over 1000 CHF data.

Topic 3: Phenomena driven by Surface Tension

Surface tension plays an important role in multi-phase systems. In this talk, the fundamental matters relevant to surface tension are firstly explained and then the action of surface tension in fluid dynamics as well as thermal-fluid systems is discussed by addressing similarity laws and dimensionless quantities with special attention to scaling effects and also by citing some typical phenomena driven by surface tension.

专家简介

庄司教授现为东京大学名誉教授。1971年毕业于东京大学,获工学博士学位。之后在东京大学工学部任教,历任讲师(1971年),副教授(1972年),教授(1985年),2004年从教授职位退休。之后担任日本产总研(AIST)客座研究员,2006年起历任神奈川大学工学部教授,部长,理事和校务委员至2013年退休。庄司教授的研究包括了工程热物理的广泛领域:沸腾传热(人工表面沸腾传热,汽化核心干涉),热流体中的混沌现象,表面张力驱动现象以及生物传热(低侵入激光外科手术,人体传热和日常生活的关系等)。

庄司教授已出版了两部著作,发表了四百多篇论文,包括117篇期刊论文,85篇国际会议论文,12次特邀主题报告。他获得了包括Nusselt-Reynolds奖(2005),东京都杰出科学家奖(2004),ASME ICNMM杰出科学家奖(2011)等二十多个奖项。
